First Riva 100 Corsaro yacht launched by Ferretti Group

The first hull in the Riva 100 Corsaro series has been launched in La Spezia by Italian yard Ferretti Group.

Featuring an arrow-shaped prow and a sporty, streamlined profile, the
Riva 100 Corsaro is a 29 metre all-GRP fast planing yacht with exterior and interior styling by Officina Italiana Design.

The Riva 100 Corsaro features large glazed windows that punctuate the hull and superstructure on the main deck, offering panoramic views from the saloon. Below, an uninterrupted large hull window and portholes on both sides connect the cabins.

The central saloon features a C-shaped sofa and plenty of space for entertaining, as well as a dining room that can seat 10 and a lobby aft that leads to the master suite.

The wide-body master suite has a central double bed, walk-in wardrobe and a writing desk/vanity table with panoramic views to starboard.
One of the unique elements of the first Riva 100 Corsaro is that a private lounge, kitted out with audio/video equipment and karaoke system, replaces the large forward bathroom.

With three double suites and a twin located below on the lower deck, the Riva 100 Corsaro can accommodate up to 10 guests. The crew quarters are located forward, with two crew cabins and a captain's cabin.

Back aft, the Riva 100 Corsaro has an innovative garage that folds out to create a superyacht beach club at water level. The hydraulic system, patented by Ferretti Group, can submerge this platform to various depths so guests can relax on the water, and also allows the garage to flood for launching or hauling out the tender more easily.

The Riva 100 Corsaro's superyacht sundeck offers breathtaking views and plenty of relaxing space, and in the aft of this area, Ferretti Group has fitted an al fresco dining area next to the cocktail bar.
Power comes from a pair of 2,435hp MTU 16V 2000 M93 engines for a top speed of 27.5 knots.

Hull number one in the Riva 100 Corsaro series will now head to Hong Kong for its official unveiling, which is due to take place before the end of the year.

Vitters delivers 33m sailing superyacht Missy

Missy, the 33 metre carbon fibre Vitters sailing yacht, has been delivered to her owner, who plans to use her to explore the Mediterranean in 2017 before embarking on a worldwide cruise.

Developed in collaboration with Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, this new sloop has been two years in build, starting with hull construction at Vitters’ composite subsidiary Green Marine.

Speaking after his first cruise on board, designer Malcolm McKeon said: "Missy has exceeded all my expectations and is a delight to sail; she is perfectly balanced with plenty of stability to carry her generous sail plan."

Missy was designed for a client who had performance cruising in mind, and this brief resulted in her slim 7.5 metre beam, lifting keel and generous sail plan.Louis Hamming, CEO of Vitters Shipyard, said: “Missy has a spacious, comfortable interior in which a lot of attention was devoted to the efficient use of available space on board. The compact engine room is fitted with a great amount of equipment and state of the art technology, while no compromise has been made on comfort or the use of advanced technologies.”

Interior styling is by Design Unlimited, with contemporary oak joinery finished in light grey and textured accents to add a feeling of warmth. The family-friendly layout includes an open-plan saloon and galley to encourage interaction between the nine guests that can be accommodated across four cabins. Two additional cabins allow for a total crew of four.

Key exterior design features on board Missy include the high proportion of glass in the saloon, with heat-reflective interlayers to keep the interiors cool in warmer climates. Lazarette storage allows for a 4.1 metre tender, a sailing dinghy and other water sports equipment. Meanwhile, the fully automated bimini and dodger system sit flush with the low-profile superstructure when retracted.

McKeon added: “It’s been a particularly exciting experience to design this superyacht for a new client, helping him transition from his knowledge of production boats to a fully-customised superyacht.”

Vitters explains that particular attention was paid to noise and vibration control, resulting in the fitment of lightweight composite panels, which improve both soundproofing and thermal insulation.

Missy is the latest in a prestigious line of yachts from the Dutch builder and once delivered will surely rank alongside some of the best Vitters sailing superyachts of all time.
