Some major changes happened on the second-last day of the ISAF Youth Sailing Championship at Tavira POR. All classes sailed two races in a 10-12 kn seabreeze.
Already before the last race, the 420 Girls World Champions are known, as Silvia Mas Depares/Marta Davila Mateu ESP have a solid 13 points' lead on Yahel Wallach/Stav Brokman ISR who have the Silver Medal for sure. Six teams will fight for Bronze, with Theres Dahnke/Birte Winkel GER 3rd on the pole position with a 4 points advantage.
In the 420 Boys, Ibuki Koizumi/Kotaro Matsuo JPN are now back on top at equal points with the 2nd Yia Jia Loh/Jonathan Yeo SIN. Behind this duo, the points' gaps remain minor with Mohammad Faizal Norizan/Ahmad Syukri Abdul Aziz MAS as 3rd 3 points back and all top-six boats have still a chance for a Medal.
In the 29ers, Quinn Wilson/Riley Gibbs USA have replaced the leaders Brice Yrieix/Loic Fischer FRA on top, as the French suffered a premature start disqualification. But the deficit is only one point before the last race today. Marcus Somerville/Isaac McHardie NZL 7 points behind have also still a chance for the title.
On the first place of the SL16-catamarans are Louis Flament/Charles Dorange FRA 11 points ahead, and only Jordi and Ruben Booth ESP have a theoretical chance to move on top. Kim Vidal/Antonio Lopes BRA are 3rd, and will have to defend the Bronze Medal against Parent/Schultz USA 4 points behind.
