Cardiff Bay saved the best for last for the 11-boat Extreme 40 fleet, where 'The Wave - Muscat' (Leigh McMillan GBR), 'Alinghi' (Morgan Larson USA) and 'JP Morgan-BAR Racing' (Ben Aisnlie GBR) battled it out until the bitter end for the top positions, in one of the closest – and most exciting – three-horse fights seen in the Series, which resulted in a three way collision and three consecutive penalties too boot in the final and double points race. (See the video, crash happens after 3 min 30 sec). Inspite of finishing this last race on the last places ('Alinghi' 9th, 'BAR' 10th, 'Wave' 11th), these three teams finished in Cardiff 1 - 2 - 3 overall. In the 2014 Series interim's rankings, 'Alinghi' remains on top but the advance on 'The Wave - Muscat' has melted on 2 points. Third in the annual rankings are Jerôme Clerc SUI/Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI on 'RealTeam' thanks to a 5th place in Cardiff. and a weak result of Dean Barker NZL and his 'Team New Zealand' in Wales.
On June 28th, 2014 ISA YACHTS launched the "Forever One", a 54-meter
(179ft) full displacement custom motor yacht. With her reverse bow and
vibrant red and white paintwork, the Forever One is for sure a
different yacht. This fully custom 5-deck yacht with an aluminum
superstructure and an impressive steel hull with reverse bow is designed
by Horacio Bozzo Design and the interior design is by Alessandro
Massari/Studio Massari. ISA Yachts worked in very close cooperation with
the naval architect, the sales broker Fernando Nicholson, the
Captain/Owner’s representative Colin Skinner and the interior designer
to build a yacht full of distinctive features which make it stand out of
the crowd.
Forever One is a 54.5-meter twin-screw, steel and aluminum
fully-customized displacement motor yacht with modern exterior lines.
Her combined reverse bow gives her a strong character but also increases
the hydrodynamic efficiency. The layout is quite unconventional and the
challenge was to fit several features that make her unique: The Owner's
deck is one of the peculiarities of such vessel with a private balcony -
accessible from their stateroom - and a large aft deck terrace.
Foldable bulwarks on the main deck grant a spectacular view to the
exterior. Noteworthy is the glass elevator that connects all decks, from
the lower deck to the flybridge. She has a spectacular dining/relaxing
salon located forward on the main deck where usually are located the
Owner's stateroom.
A spacious beach club with large foldable stern and side platforms ideal
for water toys and tenders docking give also facilitated access to the
water by automatic and gentle-angled submerged stairs. The main garage
is located forward on main deck and will carry a 9-meter tender and a
5.5-meter crew tender. Two Caterpillars 3512C engines will propel this
motor yacht to a speed of 16.5 knots with a trans-pacific range. The
exterior color scheme is composed of Dupont Snow White on hull and
superstructure. Red elements are painted with Dupont Rosso Corsa. The
Yacht's name "Forever One" -as explained by the Owner- is dedicated to
his wife: “she is the one, forever....”.
