Ivan Erdevicki designs 40m ER130 explorer yacht concept

Naval architect Ivan Erdevicki has revealed his latest superyacht concept, a 40 metre explorer yacht called ER130.

Designed to offer a modern twist on the expedition yacht format, ER130 features contemporary exterior styling, with a reverse-angled prow and huge expanses of glass that connect the main deck with the upper deck.

With a beam of 8.3 metres and a draught of 1.89 metres, this tri-deck yacht design features a steel displacement hull and an aluminium superstructure.

Key features on board include a full-beam main deck owner’s cabin, complete with an on board office and his and hers en suite facilities in the bow. Further guest accommodation is provided on the lower deck, which is accessed via a spiral staircase.

Back aft the open plan saloon features two distinct zones: a formal dining area with seating for 10 guests and a more relaxed lounge area with port and starboard sofas, a central C-shaped settee and a full bar. Al fresco relaxation spaces include the spacious aft cockpit and the superyacht sundeck, complete with three sun loungers and a shaded skylounge.

The engine installation has not yet been disclosed but the designer adds that the hull has been designed to achieve a maximum speed of 15 knots.

Based in Vancouver, Erdevicki is the founder of ER Yacht Design, whose previous credits include the 47 metre Georgetown motor yacht Aqua Sante. Current projects under development at the studio include the 46 metre Project Gotham, which is in build at Dutch yard Icon Yachts ahead of a planned 2019 completion date.

Yachting Developments Hull 1015 emerges from shed

The 38.7 metre maxi sportfish yacht Hull 1015 has emerged from its shed at New Zealand yard Yachting Developments to have its engines fitted.

This all-carbon fast planing yacht is on schedule for a launch in the next 12 months, the Auckland-based yard added. The next stage will be to fit the bridge, which will happen before the end of the year.

Hull 1015 was ordered by an experienced owner who Yachting Developments says is an international sportfisherman. According to the yard, the owner chose Yachting Developments because of their expertise in carbon construction and previous experience in building sportfishing superyachts, such as the 27.4 metre Satu, which was launched in 2012.

The carbon hull and superstructure should make for a faster, lighter and more competitive sportfish yacht. Michael Peters Yacht Design is responsible for both the naval architecture and the exterior design, and project management is being handled by Australian firm Motor Yacht Build. The interior design for the new Yachting Developments sportfish yacht is being developed by New Zealand-based studio Below Decks Marine, however the exact layout has yet to be disclosed.

Key features include foredeck tender storage, an upper deck helm station and an extended aft cockpit that will be left bare to make it easier to reel in the catch of the day. Moving forward and al fresco dining will be provided on the main deck with seating for ten around a central table.

Power will come from a pair of 3,140hp MTU diesel engines, which should propel this sportfish yacht to an impressive top speed out on the open water.
