Vodice owes its name to the wells that never dry out, even during hot summer days. Vodice inhabitants used to trade water with the islanders until the 19th century, as testified by the two wells that still stand in the town square. Since Croatian independence Vodice has become an important tourist centre whose offer has been significantly improved by the construction of the marina. The town of Vodice is surrounded by the sea, islands and a river, with two national parks nearby - Krka and Kornati. Lively and swarmed with people during the day, yet magical at sunset, the town is equally vibrant during day and night in the summer season.
