A fishing boat sank in the Bay of Biscay

Fishing boat Gure Uxua sank in the Bay of Biscay on 50 nautical miles north of Navia in Spain.

The fishing vessel had suffered engine failure and went adrift.
The crew requested assistance with the lifeboat from the Salvamento Maritimó responding. The lifeboat arrived on scene and towed the Gure Uxua safely back to port.
All 12 crew members left the fishing boat in a liferaft and were transferred by helicopter to shore. Some of the rescued sailors suffered hypothermia and were taken to hospital for treatment. Luckily none of them was seriously injured, and all are in stable condition without injury life-threatening.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The reason for the sinking is still unknown, but the ship was left without a drive in bad weather.
