470 - European Championship 2014 - Athen GRE - Day 5

The Final Series ended yesterday with two races, and today, the Medal Races are on the program. But some decisions are already firm: Luke Patience/Elliott Willis GBR 2nd overall are the best-ranked European team and earn the European Champion's title. The Brits could even move on first overall overtaking Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS 9 points ahead of them. Three teams will fight for Bronze: Jonas and Niklas Lindgren FIN are 4 points ahead of Sime Fantela/Igor Marenic CRO, and Matthias Schmid/Florian Reichstädter AUT another 2 points behind remain also good for a medal in the double-points-no-discard Medal Race.
The medal winners in the 470 women are already known, and the cruicial Medal Race today will decide who gets what medal. On pole position are Lara Vadlau/Jolanta Ogar AUT 8 points ahead of Jo Aleh/Polly Powrie NZL. Hanna Mills/Saskia Clarke GBR 4 points behind the New Zealanders can still earn Silver.
